Residents of Serangoon Avenue 1 Blocks 101 to 108 may see their lifts upgraded in just one to two months' time.

But this is subject to at least 75 per cent of the residents there voting in favour of it.

Minister of State for Transport and Finance Lim Hwee Hwa made the announcement during the launch of North East CDC's racial harmony celebrations on Sunday morning.

Mrs Lim also said that she is trying to push for improvements to drainage systems in the private housing estates in her ward.

She added that since Serangoon is a very old estate, the constituency faces the challenges of dengue fever and traffic problems.
