Heavy rain leaves foodcourt, supermarket in Punggol flooded Monday June 12, 2006 938LIVE Heavy rain in Punggol yesterday led to the flooding of an entire supermarket and foodcourt. A caller to the MediaCorp hotline said the flooding began at around 2pm and had led most customers at the Prime Supermarket to flee. Prime Supermarket's manager David Ong said cleaning up the mess would probably take up to seven hours. "The water came in very fast. The rubbish, the cockroaches were all over the place also," he said. He estimated a loss of about 40 per cent in daily takings. This is not the first time flooding has occurred in the vicinity of Block 108, Punggol Field. Last August, the flooding was reportedly worse. Mr Ong said the matter had been raised with the Town Council. | |
