OCBC raises mortgage rates Tuesday July 25, 2006 OCBC Bank has increased its home loan interest rates by between 0.25 percentage point and 0.75 percentage point for some of its customers, depending on when they took up the loan. Letters informing customers of its rate hikes were sent out last week. Mr Gregory Chan, Head of Consumer Secured Lending at OCBC Bank said that the increase was not across-the-board and affected only a small portion of its home loan customers. Earlier this month, UOB raised its mortgage rates by 0.5 percentage point, citing the rising cost of funds. The three-month Singapore Interbank Offered Rate, the rate at which banks borrow from each other, was 3.56 per cent yesterday, up from 2 per cent a year ago. Chow Penn Nee | |
