I AM happy that HDB recently posted on its website a list of maintenance contractors for residents like me to refer to.
Nevertheless, there are a few issues that I need to clarify with HDB:
If a contractor that I engage from the list provided comes to my unit to conduct checks and finds that I am not liable for a fault and advises me to refer the matter to the HDB/town council, do I still need to pay the contractor? Is it advisable that I call the HDB/town council to report defects in my flat before I actually call up the contractors listed and engage their services? What is the expected response time for a maintenance contractor to turn up at a flat after a resident calls? Can a contractor reject a resident's call by saying that he is busy or because of the low value of the repair works? If there is any problem within the warranty period, who should I speak to if I have a dispute with the contractor or the company has wound up?
