Condo buyers queue for three nights Monday ? November 13, 2006 Sheralyn Tay sheralyn@mediacorp. Following successful preview sales last weekend, enthusiastic buyers of the CapitaLand and Lippo Group development The Metropolitan ? located near Redhill ? spent three nights queueing in wait for the condominium' "The queue started last Wednesday night because people wanted to ensure that they got their choice unit," said Ms Doris Ong, vice-president of Project Marketing at ERA Realty Network. About 50 people were already waiting outside the showroom when it opened for the official launch on Saturday, she added. Demand was greatest for a range of 43 three- and four-bedroom apartments that can be subdivided into smaller flats, and 14 pairs of two-bedroom apartments that can be combined. Last weekend, 34 of the 37 units released were sold. The remaining 23 were snapped up within 30 minutes on Saturday when the showrooms opened at 10am. Ms Ong said most units were sold to relatives who wanted to live close to each other. About 238 units, or 62 per cent of the development, have been sold, with about 50 of the 132 units released for the official launch sold by 4pm yesterday. The average sale price was $780 per square foot. | |
