THE residents of Block401, Woodlands Street 41, started their on the wrong foot on Wednesday. They woke up to find their shoes, slippers and sandals - usually kept outside their units - lying scattered on the ground floor in front of the block. The entire nine-storey block was hit. It is believed that pranksters did this, and the odd thing in this case is that they took just one shoe or slipper from each pair. By 6am, nearly 100pieces of footwear were found in front of the block and many annoyed residents spent the morning searching for their missing shoes or slippers. SOME IN DRAIN Some landed near a basketball court nearby and others were found near a drain 10m from the block. Lashing specialist Muhd Fazil Murat, 27, knew something was wrong when he went out of his fifth-floor unit at about 5am. He said: 'We had just had our last meal before starting the Ramadan fast. When I went outside, I saw many shoes and slippers downstairs. 'I asked my mother-in-law if any of the footwear was ours. She looked out and said yes.' When Mr Muhd Fazil came out of his unit in the morning he found that there was only one shoe for each of the 10 pairs of footwear his family owned. This included his safety boots and his children's shoes. He said: 'The rest of the shoes were downstairs. Some residents went downstairs with bags to pick up their shoes or slippers. 'By then, the cleaners were coming and I rushed downstairs to tell them not to pick up theshoes.' Teacher Jasclyn Uma Mohan, 25, who lives in a fourth-floor unit with her husband, MrSantranaidu, 27, was anothervictim. Mr Santranaidu said: 'Residents on nearly every floor were affected. This is the first time such a thing has happened in the block.' Madam Nageshwari Subramaniam, 30, a manager at a KFC outlet at Suntec City, said she and her husband were also late for work as their safety shoes were missing. A police spokesman said that they were informed at 5.30am on Wednesday that footwear was found at the foot of Block 401. The spokesman said that investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information can call the police hotline at 1800-2550000.
