Private property developer to build HDB flats at Tampines
|
SINGAPORE : Sim Lian Group is the first private property developer to work on a public housing project. It will build eight blocks along Tampines Avenue 6 under the HDB's Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS). The flats will have glass exteriors and an overhanging balcony with a planter's box. "We will bring the experience from private projects to the DBSS site. As you can see from the perspectives, it will look more like a private project," said Kuik Sing Beng, managing director of Sim Lian Land. To create a sense of exclusivity, landscaping will include a central open space with communal facilities. Multi-storey carparks tucked below the blocks will also be linked directly to lift lobbies. The developer says the price of the flats will be similar to other HDB flats in the area. It plans to target upgraders and first-time home buyers like newly-weds. About 85 percent of the development will be 5-room flats, with 4-room flats making up the rest. To be launched for sale in the third quarter of this year, the 612 units will be ready in December 2009. HDB says it may release further sites for private development based on the outcome of this pilot project. |
