SINGAPORE: Inflation was up 1.1 percent in April from a year ago.

Registering the biggest gain was the cost of housing, which was up 3.3 percent on year.

Next was education and stationery at 2.3 percent higher.

Bucking the trend was transport and communication costs which were down 1.3 percent.

For the first four months of 2006, the Consumer Price IndexI increased by 1.3 per cent over the same period
