| | | | | SINGAPORE : A registration system for real estate agents has been launched.
This allows real estate agencies to register their employees on an industry-approved website.
It will enable the agencies to share information on their agents, check the agents' work history and where the agent is registered.
The idea was mooted by the Institute of Estate Agents.
It wants to use the system as a form of industry self-regulation to clamp down on bad practices by rogue agents.
So far, 32 companies have signed up and some 12,000 agents have been registered on the website.
Jeff Foo, President, Institute of Estate Agents, said, "The first thing is they will be able to know exactly how many agents actually are working for them. The second thing is, if any of their agents are purportedly working for another company, they will get to know. This has to be a collective effort. I guess the licensing agents would not have any damage done to them if they register their agents on this central registry." - CNA/ms |
