I TAKE issue with Mr Goh Ee Kiat's contention that home owners in collective sales are in it only for the money ('Collective sales bad for those who treasure home'; ST, Sept 18).
My husband and I decided to go with the majority for the simple reason that if the en bloc sale was not successful we would have to fork out more than $10,000 for maintenance as our lifts, water tanks, etc., are all due for a change. What better way is there to get cash and downgrade to an HDB flat where we do not have to worry about such things? The town councils take care of such things.
We love our home but we have to be practical and make the right choice. Does Mr Goh have a better alternative for people like us who cannot sell in the open market because we will suffer a loss?
