Notice is required of all HDB renovation work Weekend ? October 14, 2006 Letter from Quek Bee Lian Acting Deputy Director (Housing Maintenance) For Director (Housing Administration) Housing & Development Board I refer to the letter, "Give notice of HDB renovation" by Mr Colin Ong Tau Shien. (Oct 11). Renovation contractors are required to display a Notice of renovation works prominently outside the main entrance of the flats before starting any renovation works. They are also required to keep the immediate neighbours surrounding the unit informed of their intended renovation works at least three days in advance. These requirements are stipulated under the terms and conditions of the HDB Registered Renovation Contractors' Scheme. To minimise inconvenience to residents, renovation contractors are only allowed to carry out general renovation works from 8am to 6pm daily. Noise generating works are restricted from 9am to 5pm daily during the weekdays and not allowed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Residents who encounter contractors that do not comply with the requirements mentioned can report them to the HDB via our toll-free HDB Branch Office Service Line at Tel: 1800-225-5432 (during office hours) or the Emergency Services Providers (after office hours). HDB will investigate and take appropriate action on the contractors. We thank Mr Ong for his suggestion. Such thoughtfulness goes a long way in contributing to good neighbourliness. | |
