2% is the norm
November 21, 2006

THE Institute of Estate Agents here recommends that the sales commission be at least 2 per cent of the sale price.

Mr Albert Lu, managing director of C&H Realty, said that if the agents act for the sellers, the seller usually pays a commission of 2 per cent of the sale price.

'But if the agency acts for the buyers, the buyers pay about 1 per cent of the sale price. In this case, it's up to the seller how much commission to pay. The commission is negotiable.'
