sg), for residents' ease of reference. The contractors on this list are selected based on the HDB's best knowledge of their respective track records and financial standing, and with the understanding that they will provide good service to residents.
The HDB will review the list from time to time to ensure that the listed contractors continue to provide good service.

The HDB will also investigate if there are substantiated complaints against any contractor listed.
However, we wish to highlight that a resident who engages a contractor, whether listed on HDB's website or not, enters into a private agreement with the contractor.
The list on the HDB's website is only a reference guide, and residents will need to exercise due diligence before engaging any contractor.
For example, they should try to obtain quotations from more than one source, to get a better sense of the pricing and the scope of works and services.
Residents should also scrutinise the terms and conditions of their agreements with the contractors, including the warranty period, response time and charges that apply.
If a resident is not clear whether repairing a particular defect or fault is the responsibility of the HDB, the town council or himself, he can first call the HDB branch office service line on 1800-2255432 for advice.

We thank Mr Ng for his feedback and are happy he has found our new service to be useful.
The HDB has also posted more information on the conditions for engaging repair contractors, as well as a set of FAQs, on our website.
